The National Save The Sea Turtle Foundation Bolsters Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Capabilities at the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center

The National Save The Sea Turtle Foundation surprised the organizers and guests of the Friends of Gumbo Limbo’s annual event, the SeaCoast Toast, with a $10,000 gift in support of the high-quality sea turtle rehabilitation efforts being un- dertaken each day at the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center. The annual event brings friends and supporters of Gumbo Limbo together to thank their staff and volunteers, and to generate continued support from the community to expand important conservation programming. Gumbo Limbo’s key role as a sea turtle rehabilitation facility greatly enhances turtle recovery efforts statewide, and must continue to meet the ever-increasing demand for short and long-term care of injured sea turtles. The evening included live music, a wonderful dinner, live and silent auctions, and the presentation of this year’s CRESST Award to nature photographer Ben Hicks.
