Foundation Biologist Larry Wood give Keynote presentation at Barrier Island Sanctuary

On February 7th, National Save the Sea Turtle Foundation Biologist Larry Wood spoke about Florida’s sea turtles and his long-time work with Palm Beach County’s hawksbill turtles at the Barrier Island Sanctuary in Melbourne Beach, Florida. The Barrier Island Center is located in the heart of the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge, one of the most important sea turtle nesting beaches in the world. Free to the public, the Center provides interactive indoor exhibits, nature trails, and various kinds of educational experiences for visitors on a year-round basis, including guided turtle walks during the summer months. On this day, dozens of volunteers came together to plant hundreds of sea oat seedlings along the Sanctuary’s dunes, and were invited after to the Center’s amphitheater to hear Dr. Wood speak.
