Adopt a sea turtle nest to track hatchling's journeys
If you've ever wanted to buy a star and have it named after you, there's a cheaper and more ecologically beneficial option.
The National Save the Sea Turtle Foundation in Broward County will let you adopt a sea turtle nest for a $40 donation. The adopter's name gets posted on a sign in the nest, and he or she gets a letter explainig how many baby sea turtles made it from the nest out to sea after the eggs hatch. Donations fund sea turtle conservation programs.
This year is a good one to try it, with record-high numbers of turtle nests in the county. Call the foundation at 954-351-9333
